Another Outstanding Film-Noir From Fleischer
9 February 2022
Before He Became a Big-Movie Director of Mega-Budgeted A-List Martial, Director Richard Fleischer had a Stellar Career in the "Back Alley" World of the B's and Touched Noir with Class.

Loyd Bridges is in Hyper-Rat Mode as a Felon Manipulating the Treasury, Crime-Bosses and the Tragically Beautiful Barbara Payton.

This High-Energy Noir is Filled with Great On-Location Footage, Characters, and a Transformative Presentation of the Seedy-Side of the Underworld Life.

Slum Hotels, Nightclubs with "Cigarette Girls" who Sometimes Used Their Beauty Selling Other Things on the side. Here Payton is a Knock-Out Completely Devoted to Her Guy, Bridges.

Barbara Payton in this Flashing Example of a Shooting Star, She is Destined to Fall Before Reaching Orbit, in a Real-Life Battle that is Norish in Definition as Much as Any Fiction.

The Third-Act Counterfeited the Bridges Character, who was "Unavailable" to Continue Shooting, so the Focus was Changed to Co-Star John Hoyt as the Lead.

While Some Might Say it is Less Impactful Because the Bridges Style of Edgy Bad Guy is Very Dynamic and Hoyt is an Opposite Criminal of "Groomed" Villainy.

The Film is So Good it Actually Deflects the Criticism with Ease because of the Cracker-Jack Entirety.

A Must-See for Film-Noir Fans, for Others it's...

Worth a Watch.
