Amazing music with a lame story. Nearly all musical theatre in the last 15 years has followed those rules. This film may have started that. It knows what it is and never takes itself seriously. It's like a long Monkees episode. It's got the great George Burns singing The Beatles. It's got the great Steve Martin singing The Beatles. It's got the great Frankie Howard playing the villain. It's got some of the greatest music ever written. Is it very silly yes it's suppose to be. But is it entertaining. Absolutely!
