Clever episode but only if you buy a key element

Warning: Spoilers
What a strange episode. If you were blackmailing someone and you set up a meeting to exchange money for evidence, wouldn't you do it in a public place, for safety? The person being blackmailed can't dictate the terms, so they would have to show up wherever you told them. Also, the woman who was blackmailed over photos and negatives of an infamous high school prank, would have all of the evidence in exchange for the money so why worry that the blackmail would continue? The day of the reunion, it really made no sense why the couple was at the local lover's lane. Also, did the killer bring a gun with her from Chicago or where did she get one? I thought the blackmail began after she had arrived in California. Where is the gun? Lisbon should have handcuffed her in her hotel room and searched for the gun. Everything, and I mean everything must make sense in a crime drama. I think it would have worked better for the couple to be found dead AT the high school, during the reunion, and perhaps they key is discovery that the male victim was blackmailing someone but the exchange hadn't happened yet. I am beginning to wonder if the writers don't feel the need to include Miranda Warnings at all. Granted, Lisbon didn't tell her she was under arrest.

The lone highlight for me is Jane asking Lisbon to dance in the final scene. It is the first real spark in their relationship.
