Lust for Gold (1949)

This is the story of the lost Dutchman mine in the Superstition Mts. Arizona
14 June 2022
East of Apache Junction, Arizona lies the Superstition Mountains and in those mountains is the infamous Lost Dutchman Mine, said to have a large amount of gold ore that was sealed in by an earthquake. There are maps and symbols...but no one has been able to find the mine and plenty of people have died trying.

This is a sort of Western Noir that starts with a modern story of the grandson of the original Dutchman, Jacob Walz, searching for his grandfather's mine. The film goes back in time to share what really happened at the lost Dutchman mine...and it is a dark story involving death and greed and stars two phenomenal actors Ida Lupino and Glen Ford.

This was a great film and really showcased greed and paranoia. I recommend this film to anyone with ties to Arizona or are big fans of non traditional westerns or film noir.
