All About the Benjamins was released in 2002 and seemingly was a box office flop. Pairing Ice Cube and Mike Epps again seem to work again (their characters are more interesting here than their Friday films).
The violence in this film is quite gory and there is some humor but nothing too clever, it's what we've come to expect from an Ice Cube/Mike Epps film. There chemistry has definitely grown and although they play essentially similar characters to their ones in Friday, it works better here- perhaps better writing and less forced and unfunny gags. The plot isn't great but it does have its moments.
This film reminded somewhat of Bad Boys 2 and 2 Fast 2 Furious. Both buddy cop-like action films set in Miami. However those films made far more money, resulting in sequels where as Benjamins seemingly has been forgotten. As for one, this film was certainly better and more engaging than the last two Friday films.
