The lucky ones were the 40 or so that succumbed to the neutrino burst. I've been a fan of the alien movies. Just how bad was this entry, I watched it, 6 months before I started to watch it again, and only vaguely remembered how much I hated it. The storyline--> implausible, even for alien. The cast, the worst. Oh, and the acting........very much like watching a fat woman, try to fake crying......the vertical shaking, with little or no facial exp-ression.
I spent 10 minutes trying to think of something positive. I normally enjoy director Ridley Scott, in fact, quite a bit. Here, sad to say, it must have been simply a pay day. This was a quote of his, re: alien covenant:
in 2017, on Alien: Covenant 2017 . . . We discovered from it Prometheus 2012 that the fans were really frustrated. They wanted to see more of the original monster and I thought he was definitely cooked, with an orange in his mouth. So I thought, Wow, OK, I'm wrong . . . The fans, in a funny kind of way--they're not the final word--but they are the reflection of your doubts about something, and then you realize I was wrong or I was right. I think that's where it comes in. I think you're not sensible if you don't actually take the fans' reaction into account."
Does that sound like a director, in pursuit of HIS VISION?
When asked why she. Sigourney Weaver did a 4th alien movie, she replied they offered me an obscene wheelbarrow full of money. I guess 2 wheelbarrows were not enough, here. Sadly, I'm afraid this is a rather ignominious end for a once quite scary franchise.
