Review of Drive

Drive (I) (2011)
7/10
Leaves an Impression

Stuck between genres, what Drive lacks in backstory it makes up for in its production value. Spliced together well, the film's sound, cinematography, and editing create a captivating experience. I just wish there was more character development. Plus, the love story accelerated quicker than Gosling's getaway car.

Gosling's limited depth of acting is on full display here as a character who hardly changes facial expressions, but a charming Carey Mulligan allows us to forgive and forget.

All in all, it feels like must-see cinema that will be (or may already be) part of film classes everywhere, but it won't make your feel-good, all-time favorites list.

Verdict: Watch it.
