Review of Fire Country

Fire Country (2022– )
5/10
Melodramatic, silly, absurd

Warning: Spoilers
So, there's this lightning storm, which is a thing, but these people actually see lightning striking buildings, trees, and even in the middle of the road. This kind of thing might happen to a regular person once in a lifetime, but it's a regular event in Edgewater.

But the lightning isn't very loud, and it's not even very bright. If lightning hits close to you, everything is going to go white, and the thunder will be like a giant hammer.

Aside from unbelievable lightning, there's no humor at all in the script. Every single conversation is deadly serious and super dramatic.

Back in the day, Pete and Jim in 1 Adam 12 would talk about things work buddies talk about, and most of it was humorous. Same thing with Roy and John in Emergency.

Those were both produced by Jack Webb, who made sure the writing had a dry wit about it. Nothing extreme, it was always believable, the kind of thing you'd expect at work.

This show is just not believable on many counts, but I still give it 5 stars for production values and subject matter. I probably won't aggravate myself by watching it again though.
