Warning: Spoilers
To be fair, I enjoy the episodes more which focus on cases.

However, this week's offering still moved the seasonal arc forward while showing the family fall out from the Big Bad.

I'm glad Cordell finally prioritized his brother, because even though Liam has been an occasional critic, he's also always had Cordi's back.

It was both difficult to wait until now to see them come together, yet believable because both characters were on different timelines/paths in their healing.

Jared Padalecki and Keegan Allen acted the heck out of their scenes together.

---

As a family counterpoint, we get Stella.

Now usually Stella does the wrong thing at the wrong time and gets off scott free. This time she was showing some maturity and got punished.

(I can both imagine the audience cheering her finally facing consequences, while also groaning, "Cordell, not NOW.")

Note, I say "some" maturity, since she was still trying to bail Auggie out for him mistake. But I do appreciate her loyalty.

Meanwhile, I'm expecting Auggie to get what he deserves next week, though there is a line that's very clear between those over 18 and under.

Unpopular opinion, perhaps, but I'm honestly ok with Stella needing space for a bit. She's not running away with a felon (season one.) She's close by, safe, accessible, and probably working at the Sidestep.

In fact, she has almost too safe a niche to call it "running away," since she calls Geri her aunt.

---

Geri also is getting some breathing room in the story, after the writers pushed a mis-matched romance too fast.

While I'd rather see her do some self-reflection on screen, I'm hoping the narration will fill in gaps for how she's making amends to her past. (Hoyt, yes, and other items.)

Then the writers might manage to pull me back in to a character they've made me intensely dislike--even when I didn't want to. (Honestly not sure they can there's so much damage piled up)

---

For the B-plot, we have Cassie and Trey interacting with the Mayor's assistant, Kevin.

Hello, Jake Abel, whose over the top portrayal of political slime ball schmoozing was almost too fun.

My only critique and subtracting of a star, was that this trio was so much fun that the reveal of a poison/toxin really was hard to take seriously.

It happened almost too weirdly fast.

So I'm blaming B plot pacing, perhaps. Or maybe the comedy was overdone? But I enjoyed it as a viewer, so I'm not sure where to go.

----

Still, a solid episode and very emotional.

This sets us up for family holidays and perhaps a twist to leave us hanging at mid-season time?
