Ratboy (1986)

Don't Insult Your Audience

Very arrogant to produce a film with a protagonist who has the face of a rat on a human body without explaining his origins. "Ratboy" knew his name was Eugene, but who named him? He was socialized enough to know his name was Eugene, but how did that happen? Who taught him to speak? He seemed to know he didn't look "normal," but how did he know this? Don't put out a film about someone being different without offering a backstory. Perhaps "Willard" was an influence here, but it still seems like an odd venture for a film.

I don't recommend this movie. They attempted to have the audience sympathize with Eugene without making him likable.
