Having done a wonderful job last season, the writers now give us "Scary Movie" Part 1 (last episode) & Part 2 (this episode).
People (women especially) are not even remotely as stupid in REAL life as episodes 1 & 2 suggest. Two women hear strange noises in the house and one of them says, "Oh that's just the house settling" ???
One of the women is trapped upstairs alone with the killer. (The filmmakers use the reveal shot we've seen a billion times before). Question: Why didn't that woman scream like a banshee the moment she saw the killer? That made NO sense.
It was deja vu all over again, Scary Movie Part 2. Where NO ONE behaves in a rational or realistic way.
The second camera reveal (the surprise one of Luther) was a sane and welcome moment in the midst of ubiquitous stupidity. But how about the misogyny of the script?? Luther's fighting the killer and all the woman does is stand frozen and scream. She couldn't assist Luther and pick up a heavy object to throw at the killer? Or maybe hit him over the head? That was an insulting continuation of the impotence theme from last season.
I agree with a couple of the reviewers: Did Mary Day accidentally run into John or is there something more at work there? Time will tell.
