So the Mandalorian is back and it does not spend much time explaining the off-series story: yes, you better watch The Book of Boba Fett to understand what happened between Season 2 and 3 but maybe that's okay by now.
On the action front it's all you need from Star Wars and The Mandalorian - some creature action, some space chase and even some Western shooting. Check, check, check. And of course some cute Grogu added. It doesn't bring lots of new ideas or emotions or depth to the series but it is functional in setting up some of the story threads and conflicts for this season. It is good, but I hope it goes back to great as the story develops.
