I really enjoy the show, but this episode left me a bit...annoyed.
Firstly, the idea that ATN could completely dominate the news market in the age of Google, Twitter, and Facebook is a bit ludicrous. It's easier than ever for people to read Al Jazeera, BBC, and other foreign sites in addition to the plethora of domestic progressive leaning outlets.
The idea that US has any "real news" is kind of laughable. US doesn't really have a news outlet like the BBC or France 24. It has partisan outlets that push ideological narratives in conjunction with activists and politicos.
Journalists talk of "dark money" in politics and rightfully so. But they don't talk of ideologues who promote and push agendas to generate passion and interest. They don't because journalists are directly complicit in this. They are part of the war for your mind.
Succession isn't the show for that. It is a show that focuses on the deeply cynical nature of corporations and the distorting effects wealth has on the families.
