This had potential but pretty poor execution

Warning: Spoilers
This remake of a famous 1957 movie had potential with a lot of solid actors and actresses but I feel it all got wasted by poor and sloppy execution.

It's hard to remake a movie from old eras because standards were different when the original movie was filmed and people had much lower expectations. For example a protagonist could take a gun with 6 bullets and shoot 100 bad guys without running bad guys. These days if you try to replicate that people won't buy it.

Most of the action scenes in this movie felt very sloppy, at times even felt like a high school theater play. I'd have expected a much better job from producers considering the high budget of the movie.

Also the "character development" moment at the end felt very rushed almost to the point of ridiculous. Why would a bloodthirsty criminal suddenly have a super drastic change of heart like that just because he had a short conversation with Dan? This was a guy who proudly told people tales of dynamiting a train full of people without feeling a mercy or remorse. Suddenly he has one conversation with Dan and he's willing to not only give himself up but kill all his friends who were trying to save him?

I was ready to give this movie an 8 until the last 20 minutes but those 20 minutes ruined it for me. I felt like my intelligence was insulted to be honest.
