A great movie based on a true story or is it?
This is a reimaging if you like, yes the basic elements of the story are true but embellishments have been made to make you feel more sympathetic towards the Kevin Bacon character.
As a drama goes its pretty engaging and I would argue that Christian Slater does more than an adequate job of matching acting skills against Bacon and Oldman.
The ambience of the picture is really what draws you into the whole sage, its dark, depressing and damning, as it should be. It makes it much more real and easier to connect with.
Not a bad way to spend a lazy afternoon on the couch :)
