Due South (1994–1999)

(S1&2) I never wanted this to end

Think Ryan Phillipe or Mark Ruffalo could steal the show? Think again! Melinda Kanakaderis? Wow! But really the deaf wolf Diefenbaker is the shining star of this show, while Paul Gross makes the straight-laced good guy oh-so-sexy.

Don't underestimate this kooky, heart-wrenching, side-splitting, on-a-budget tv series. It will grab you in the good places and hold on tight.

(For 2 seasons. Ignore season 3. Best pretends it doesn't exist.) From a feminist perspective, I wish there were more shows like this when I growing up, where the good guy holds true to his morals, treats women with respect (albeit somewhat cluelessly and for comedic gain), where unrequited love is the sweetest of all. Such a change from the overtly steortypical masculinity gracing our screens, commonly disguising toxic traits as "this is a Real Man" (choke, splitter, gasp).

All in all, pure gold and well worth the watch.
