THE BEST TUPAC DOCUMENTARY SINCE TUPAC: RESURRECTION
15 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
First off, ignore the nay sayer who gave this 1/10. How can you possibly make a review of this documentary when you haven't even seen the whole thing? To be absolutely clear, this is NOT entirely a 2Pac documentary but it's both about Afeni Shakur and her son. Both stories has been told. Second, I would like to inform everyone once and for all that Tupac regrets that he did wrong to the Hughes Brothers and wanted to make peace with them during his MTV interview with Tabitha Soren on October 27, 1995. You can find the footage on my Instagram. Third, I gotta admit that this documentary is indeed highly informative but they do recycle some old information, few are new if you recently discovered Tupac and some are not. As for Afeni's story, if you haven't read her book, all these information will be new to you. However the best part about this series is the rare and before seen photos and footages which absolutely blew my mind when I first saw it! Now for the lesser good part about this. They do breakdown most of the key moments in Tupac's life and some were entirely skipped because not everyone agreed to be interviewed. Because of this, many things were left out. Unfortunate. I was also told that some of the information that was told in this documentary was not entirely accurate and there's a lot more to it. Besides that I would consider this the best documentary that has been released since Tupac: Resurrection was released in theaters, no doubt about it. You will feel absolute joy, laughter and sadness when you see this 5-part series. Allen Hughes redeemed, decided to put his years of resentment and trauma aside and made a complete masterpiece.
