6/10
Satire Of Horror Movies
17 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I saw The Blackening, starring Antoinette Robertson-Dear White People_tv, Hart of Dixie_tv; Grace Byers-Harlem_tv, Empire_tv; Jermaine Fowler-Coming 2 America, Judas and the Black Messiah and Diedrich Bader-Shazam! Fury of the Gods, American Housewife_tv.

This is a satire of horror movies that is a little humorous, but not all the time. Sometimes, the jokes fall flat. A group of Black friends have a reunion at a cabin in the woods. Antoinette, Grace and Jermaine are 3 of the friends. They find a game board in the basement that can only be described as racist. A mysterious voice tells them that they must play the game or be killed and when they refuse to play, they soon learn that he was deadly serious as their friends start being killed off by a man in a mask with a crossbow. Diedrich pops up as a park ranger that is checking up on them. Like I said, it is funny in parts but some of the humor seemed like they were trying too hard to be funny.

It's rated R for language, violence and drug use and has a running time of 1 hour& 36 minutes.

It's not one that I'd buy on DVD but if you are interested in seeing it, I guess it would be alright to stream.
