A documentary that doesn't wanna take things seriously.
16 August 2023
Please note: Before watching this series, i did not know this was a thing and didn't know it was displayed on cable, so i'm not someone that was there live when it happened.

Now, where to begin? This is a documentary that does some good things and some bad things, these bad things are what plagiarize the whole documentary and make it painful to watch and... wait, i can't tell you this stuff without my experience on watching it!

.....okay. My experience with this documentary is REALLY mixed, i both enjoyed it and hated it. If there is one thing i can say, is that it knows how to keep you hooked and it does quite well to be honest. Yes, at the beginning of the documentary, i was furious at what i was seeing, TikTokers and YouTubers being there and recording the announcement of the trial and arleady trying to skew in fake information before it even begins, yeah, i hated those first 9 minutes. But after i while, i actually managed to enjoy it, ( don't get me wrong, i wasn't astounded by the content nor did i awe ), but i could atleast see that the people that complied this, tried to make it feel nice and not unwatchable, *cough* influencer scenes, *cough*. But then again, even when it was good, it was nothing too special.

The bad parts of this documentary have to be the out of place scenarios with the youtubers, twitch streamers and ESPECIALLY, the TikTokers. OH BOY THE TIKTOKERS! These scenes are just the worst and are the biggest problem with the series, seriously, who thought it was a good idea to have such clips of random memes of the jury scattered around?! What it tries to do, is to show how the media is using this event to get views and make memes out of it but it doesn't work and in a documentary like this, that's not something you want. While the ones with the youtubers and twitch streamers were a little better, they are put in places that don't need them and just make you scream: "Why?" Thankfully, some of these moments are used in the correct context and at the correct timeline but still, not good.

The good things about it are... sadly not many but there are okay! When i talked about my experience with it i said that the documentary knows how to keep you hooked and it's true, throughout the episodes there are multiple occasions where you can say: "OMG, this really happened or is this a lie, hmmm, i don't know, i'll need more information to give a true statement." That's what the main point of this documentary is and that's what it is supposed to do, ABOVE anything else, and it does it perfectly! I was actually shocked by some of the scenes they showed, ( no spoilers ) and actually felt scared in some places. The way everything is used, the cinematography how it is compiled, the correct use of external news and social media videos, it is what makes this documentary somewhat decent and fun to watch. However, it is still up with some problems, like there being way too much usage of influencers talking about the moment which does overlay the audio of the voices of either Depp or Heard and some pointless scenes of the crowd trying to get noticed by one of the celebrities.

Overall, my experience with this title is both good and bad. On one hand i think it is one of the worst documentaries in history, full of pointless scenes and the total lack of seriousness throughout the whole thing, which is especially shown to the influencers that literally laugh and make memes on TikTok about the cringe moments of the jury, instead of trying to listen and use their brain to understand what's happening and see who's right and who's wrong and even the people who made this documentary don't seem to take it seriously and it can be immediately seen from the first episode alone! But hey, atleast the editing is really good. But on the other hand, i think it's a documentary that is able to show us how the new generation takes these events, how people decide what should be considered as important evidence and uselles evidence, the honesty of people and how one or multiple bad things can affect us for the rest of our life and i think that's a really nice thing to show, it also includes some really nice messages.

So, to give out one final word: This documentary is mixed full of problems, out of place clips but also contains some nice moments and shows us the true side of these two actors and i'm glad that Depp won, i just knew from how Depp was answering the questions that Heard was a big liar.
