Review of Sphinx

Sphinx (1981)
2/10
Starring the scenery of Egypt, marred by idiotic script
24 September 2023
The main character is supposedly a brilliant Egyptologist, and this trip is the single biggest event in her life. But, like the British who conquered the land, she doesn't bother to learn even a few basic phrases of the local language. Her arrogant stupidity is astounding. The pacing is slow and plodding, even factoring in the era in which it was made, and the plot is something from a pulp-era novella, without anything really interesting or exciting. The soundtrack may be the only saving grace of this tedious movie.

Honestly, this movie makes Romancing the Stone, Indiana Jones, and The Mummy movies look like intellectual masterpieces.
