Review of Episode 8

Sex Education: Episode 8 (2023)
Season 4, Episode 8
2/10
One of the worst final season ever made
10 October 2023
Sex Education was, in my opinion one of the best series on Netflix, and one of the best series about highschool. It tackled seveal topics, and did a brillaint job at addressing them, and how they affect people. It was funny, emotional, engaging and had a strong cast. Season 4 took all of that, and threw it out.

Season 4 was dreadful, and almost every moment of it was filled with complete trash. This is a different show. It feels nothing like what came before, and we are forced to watch this severely unrealistic story, with a group of unbareable new characters.

This new college - Cavendish, is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. If a place this like existed, the whole country would grind to a halt. It is so over the top, that the entire thing feels like it was conjured in a crazy person's mind. I was half expecting the entire college to suddenly turn into a gang of elves and float into the air... It is that far-fetched.

Sex Ed has always been a little on the woke side, but did it in a believeable way, so much that you cared and rooted for the characters. S4 takes that to the next level. Everyone in that college, is gender-fluid, vegan, trans ect. It is bonkers.

Then there is the characters. For 3 seasons, Otis, Eric and Maeve have been at the core of the series, in season 4, they are completely sidelined for these new awful characters; Cal, Abbie, Roman, Aisha and the rest of them, are truly awful. They are boring, irritating and ruin the whole thing. You should never introduce new characters to the final season of your series. It should focus on the characters that we have come to love for years. But instead of spending time with our trio, and the occasional great side characters, like Adam, Jackson and of course, Aimee, we are forced into watching those horrific new ones.

The only redeeming thing about season 4, and what stops it from being unwatchable, was the storyline of Adam and his father, as well as Maeve and her mother. Those stories were really good. Jackson was also good this season. Then there is Ruby. Ah Ruby, the only great character this season. She held S4 together, and if she wasn't in here, it would have fallen flat on its face. She was the most real thing here. She seemed to be irritating by this crazy college as well. She deserved so much more than what she was given.

Overall, Sex Ed has ending in such a way that I can not go back and rewatch the series. It has left a bitter taste in the mouth, and soured what was, a great series.
