Quick moving & light hearted mystery moves along from the start. Tom Conway is the erudite lead with Ann Rutherford drafted as his moxie laden & loyal female companion throughout the one step of the cops action. There is a screwball comedy vibe with snappy dialogue along the way. Jane Greer makes an impression here with a pre- Out of the Past role. She is quite good in support role. We don't know for sure if our protagonist is a murderous fellow or not but we follow Ann Rutherford in rooting for him as we watch. The ending pokes fun at the genre by throwing in some twists & turns before wrapping up. Fun, light & well done.
