What a disappointment!

How on God's Earth can a movie with stars like Aaron Eckhart, Nick Searcy and Stephen Lang in it be so atrociously awful? I've been a huge fan of Eckhart, Searcy and Lang (Lang all the way back to the 80's and Searcy all the way back to the 90's) and I can't believe they would appear in such a dreadful film as this. The writing is all over the place and doesn't come close to achieving the impact intended (whatever that might be.... I still haven't figured it out). The evil woman controlling his dog is nonsensical and detracts horribly from the movie. It didn't make sense at all. The ending is puzzling, nonsensical and just nauseating. I'm glad he winds up with the woman AND the dog but why is the dog missing a leg? Ridiculous!

The story woulda, coulda and shoulda been a terrific one - following a human K9 Officer working the streets with a fabulous K9 partner who gets killed in the line-of-duty and struggling to overcome the loss. Then finally coming to terms with it, acquiring a new dog albeit one with as many or more physical, mental and emotional injuries as himself. In the hands of a competent, highly skilled writer, director and editor this could have been one of the finest films of the year. Instead, regretfully, it turns out to be one of the worst.
