Next Goal Wins 2023. Directed by that New Zealand dude who directed What We Do In The Shadows and Jo Jo Rabbit. So it's going to be funny right. It also stars in his first to my knowledge, Michael Fasbender playing a comedy role. The Killer was hardly full of belly laughs now was it.
Forgot to say I'm writing this review 24 hours before I see the film to prove how much of a cliche it will be. My mate who I'm seeing the film with has a bit of a man crush on Fassbender so he'll excuse any film he's in, saying how much of an acting tour de force it is.
Enough of the pre amble what about the film. The film is about a lousy football team and their road to redemption. Think Cool Runnings and Bobsleighs well this is football.
There's some highs and lows and don't be surprised with all those emotional back stories and minor subplots which help the film along.
Guess what happens ? You've guessed right..
Overall its not a score bore but hardly a classic 7/10.. update after seeing the film, I was right but then 3 rum n cokes did help. Enjoyable nonsense 7/10.
