Started off great, finished badly.

Warning: Spoilers
A great first season focusing on the life of a grumpy second rate comedian and his family. The episodes are simple but well done and full of funny observations and quirky character traits.

The series has a slightly desaturated look where a lot of the warmth has been removed. The home has lots of dark blue, turquoise and white in it. The house feels very real nicely decorated but with enough clutter to also look real and lived in.

Not sure about this last season though. The cast are looking visibly older, the "kids" look about 20 now, the stories are getting pretty far fetched. Ricky being taken hostage in prison and so on. Remember the first season and how believable it was, getting into petty squabbles with the paperboy, pinching a few tea spoons from his local café, Why do so many great shows go down hill? Season one worked so well because it was a simple series about a down on his luck comedian fading into obscurity, annoyed with a thousand petty grievances at the world, and surrounded by people almost designed to underline this, his manipulative daughter, his successful smooth, people friendly wife, his more talented and highly perspective writer and his stoical deadpan cleaner.

The problem is you can't just do more of the same, the joke quickly gets tired, haha his daughter and her boyfriend are lazy, we get it. But the more you up the ante the more absurd the storylines become and the more one dimensional and cartoonish the characters. Ricky buys a pig? Is this a spoof of the Simpsons movie or something? Has Rick become Homer Simpson? What's happening?
