Warning: Spoilers
"The Big Timer" is a basic straightforward movie--very elementary. It's a rise, fall, learn your lesson, and rise again movie.

Cooky Bradford (Ben Lyon) was a hamburger cook and a wannabe fighter. He ran his mouth a lot, but no one believed in him except his GF Honey Baldwin (Constance Cummings). When she inherited her father's gym and his fighters they all left her which gave Cooky his big break.

He'd fight for her.

The rest was rather predictable and uneventful. He got the big time, got a taste for high society, stopped listening to Honey (now his wife), then he dropped as fast as he had risen. Standard stuff. They finished the movie with Honey orchestrating a bare knuckle fight in her office between her husband Cooky and a top fighter named Kid Melrose (Nat Pendleton). It was a dumb end to an anemic movie. It turns out that Cooky only needed to be called "yellow" for him to really fight. Why not give him spinach like they do Popeye because that's just as plausible.
