Defiance was part of the vigilante genre! Regrettably Defiance was a poor mans Death Wish! Michael Jan did the best Alpha male role as seaman on shore leave waiting for work in a slum in New York! What works: Michael Jan did the best for the slack material of a grade b film. What did not work: Bad side stories with the boy, a love interest, and paper thin bad guy characters. There was a few good action scenes but all the build up ends in an anti climatic climax. If you are watching this stinker on tubi, do your self a favor watch it on fastforward. It does not get better. Starts out okay get mediocratic and just worsen as the film progresses. 3 stars.
