A predictable and mediocre comedy written, directed and acted by Leticia Dolera.
5 March 2024
A nonsense comedy with some corny and picaresque elements about the social habits of today's youth, and also containing some funny situations. This is a recital by Leticia Dolera, she is the real protagonist. This romantic comedy starring Leticia Dolera, who also produced and directed, is full of entanglements, chaos and stinging yet disconcerting dialogue. Stars María (Leticia Dolera), she is 30 years old, she is a peculiar person and has one goal: to become a normal person. But first of all you need to find out what exactly this is. Along the way she will find the help of his brother, Alex (Jordi Llodrà) , a 25-year-old boy who has Down syndrome and meets all the requirements on the list. He also meets Borja (Manuel Burque), a boy obsessed with diets and losing weight.

The film is a crazy comedy aimed at an audience in their twenties, or early thirties, with a festive, uninhibited tone, with humor in incidents of courtship and friendship; but many situations do not work, turning out to be vulgar and ridiculous. Neither the actors nor the direction are good, and the story is completely predictable, although there are sometimes brief laughs in the film. The film is average, but the truth is that it has also a little fun. The characters are nothing more than stereotypes, clichés, with incredible performances that are not helped by an indescribable plot. At least it can be seen that there is not much dirty humor, bad words or lousy language, nor the prolific sexual scenes pretending to make love and panting, common elements in current Spanish cinema that frequently contain abundant dirty jokes, bad taste and adult scenes with continuous sexual references. Although of course the silly fart scenes in such bad taste are very unnecessary.

After her time directing short films, actress Leticia Dolera makes her debut as a feature film director with this film that contains a fun, tender, colorful and equally comical story, but very uneven and clearly mediocre, in fact it becomes quite heavy and boring . And the initial premise is frankly absurd: Why isn't a person who doesn't have a boyfriend or a good job or money normal? . Therefore, a spinster or bachelor, or unemployed, or without money, is according to the film an 'abnormal' or out of the ordinary, since according to its premise, the millions of unemployed or people who live alone are abnormal. Although many young people can identify with this excited girl in her thirties, not very attractive, without a boyfriend, without a stable job, without money; however, all the subsequent circumstances in which she is involved and her desires do not fit what I believe is lived, desired or interested by today's thirty-some people. Along with her appears Manuel Burque - who had to gain 25 kilos for this role -, Silvia Munt as the mother of the protagonist and as her brother, Jordi Llodrà, a boy with Down syndrome with much clearer ideas than his sister, and, especially with younger girls. And adding appearances by well-known actors providing decent performances, such as: Miki Esparbé, Alexandra Jiménez, Carmen Machi, José Luis García-Pérez, Blanca Aplinánez, Irene Visedo and David Vergader.

The film was regularly directed, written and acted by Leticia Dolera. Of course, she did not produce, nor did she contribute a penny, but rather it was produced by the well-known public or semi-public institutions, such as: Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA), Telefonica Studios, Televisió de Catalunya (TV3 ), Spanish Television (TVE), let's say that this average low-profile film came to the author Leticia totally free. Leticia is a famous actress, writer and famous feminist. Being known for REC³ Génesis (2012), Perfect Life (2019) and Requisitos para ser una persona normal (2015). She worked with her (now ex) husband Paco Plaza in Luna di Miele, Luna di Sangue VII (2010), REC³: Génesis (2012) and Verónica (2017) (as director), in Spanish Movie (2009) (as actor), in Sr. Rosso (2007) (as producer), and in A or B (2010), Habitantes (2013). After being well known for her feminism and being a very critical voice against the dismissals of pregnant women, in November 2018, after a verbal agreement with Aina Clotet for Clotet to play one of the main characters in the Dolera television series Perfect Life (2019) she decided not to hire her upon learning that Clotet was pregnant . Rating: 4/10.
