Yeah, on the bright side, Kung Fu Panda still has the magic. Its a fun watch overall. Welcoming back Jack Black as Po is fantastic, he's still measuring up the character as fantastic as when I first saw him in the original, and his cover of that Britney Spears song he does as Tenacious D was exactly what I wanted
The addition of Awkiafina was perfect. What!? Is she just doing voice-overs now? Viola Davis voicing the new Big Bad, Chameleon was the nail in the coffin for me. Having Ian McShane come back as a Ti po only proved that Chameleon was the best villain in the series yet and the plot serves as Fan service to those who love the franchise made this whole experience worth it
I was nervous about the film because from the trailer I knew that this was out with the old and in with the new. Jack Black has become a bankable star since the first flick. Is it possible that his paycheck was so big that they could not afford to get Angelia Jolie and Jackie Chan in a voice booth for a few hours to come up with just a handful of sentences? They were missed greatly.
However, despite my disappointment of not seeing the old characters in this new movie the new movie does not suffer too much for it. I feel the thunder once more.
