This version pales in comparison to @midnight, its progenitor. The pacing is sluggish and the jokes seem too scripted.
I wanted to like this show. Truly. The host and the guests are all very funny in their own rights. I see glimmers of their talents in any given episode, but they seem never to shine. It all comes down to spontaneity, or at least the appearance of it.
The editing is, at least in part, at fault. Padding the episodes out to an hour long may contribute to the feeling of awkward pauses and seemingly forced laughter. Paring it to a half hour format might do wonders.
Let the comics do what they're best at. Making us laugh.
