The film itself is actually pretty solid.
The story, costume design and atmosphere are perfectly crafted.
Also the acting is pretty good.
So is it a good horror film? Yes!!!
Is it a good Resident Evil film?
Sadly not at all.
The story doesn't line up to the games, or at least the games I played from the series.
A lot of the characters aren't in the games which is why I question why they didn't just turn the first game into a movie. It tries to follow the first game, but fails miserably at the same time. There is no Jill Valentine or Vesker in the film. Of course they are introduced later on(in the following films) but those aren't really good at all.
If you know nothing about RE and don't care that movie isn't really about it also you will have more than a good time with this film. Like I said it isn't bad at all, it's actually fun watching.
I still give this movie an 8 because it aged pretty good and is always enjoyable when watching it.
