Review of The Outfit

The Outfit (2022)
7/10
Dialogue driving single setting crime drama
15 May 2024
Relatively this film didn't do to well at the box office as it isn't exactly a high octane action blockbuster or a well know franchise. Repeatedly a well crafted and well acted thought provoking crime drama that delivers in a very older school fashion type way. Lead by Mark Rylance in a role in which he has seemingly done before, although he shines here as he carries the film. The other supporting cast are solid but at times their acting feels more cartoonish.

This film starts relatively slow and doesn't exactly get too interesting once one key character dies. From there it becomes more of a mafia and very dialogue driven slow roaster drama. It further picks up its intensity once the mob boss (possibly) father is introduced. It's also rare for a film to be as interesting with relatively a single setting. All taken place inside the tailor's shop.

There are of course several twist and turns within the film but none are too outlandish and not exactly shocking. The Outfit may be slow but requires heavy attention to detail and becomes more intriguing as the film progresses.
