With the nickels he saved up from brushing his teeth each day, a young boy ventures out into the world on a beat-the-clock mission to buy a baseball. Along the way he encounters a myriad of characters and never-before-seen sites, including a homeless man who proves to be a kind ally, and a wise sporting good store owner who gives him the key advice he needs to make it back in time.
