We meet Emily as she follows an old map, retracing the route of her deceased mother's post college road trip. Along the way, she meets Tom at a gas station, they don't talk to one another. Tom then hitches a ride to a motel in which, coincidentally, Emily is also residing. Emily and Tom also end up at the same diner, and this time they hit it off and end up fully clothed in the pool at night. When Emily dives in with the treasured map still in her pocket she is forced to make the decision of whether to follow her old map or create her own journey.
