Running Faster Than Pete Smith's Mouth
boblipton5 July 2020
Here's an MGM short subject meant to be shown in celebration of the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. A Smith called Pete offered some comments, some of which are meant to be humorous, as the audience is treated to some slow-motion photography of shot puts, the long jump, the relay races, and other events in the modern Olympics.

Smith speaks a lot slower than his later shorts, and his jokes are just as corny as they would remain through the end of his career twenty years later.... although they would be more amusing.
