The Masquers Club shorts are an odd assortment of comedies, as the films are meant to have bad acting and ridiculous characters. And, for me, they are best in very small doses.
The story is set in the final days of the Civil War and spies from the North and the South. And, in the midst of this, a Yankee falls in love with Southern belle.
The characters and acting are WAY over the top...which could have worked had the film been funny. It wasn't. Also, I am sure some of the viewers will see the butler in black-face and have a heart attack!
