The transfer window is for fans what Christmas is for children. They write their wishlists and send them off to the imaginary football Santa in the hope that come the climax of Deadline Day, all their wishes will have come true. For Arsenal fans, this was meant to be the summer that Arsene Wenger would spend his cash reserve and turn them into title challengers. In the end, it turned out to be a summer of striker related sagas which ended with Arsenal signing a world class attacking midfielder to join two free agents and a loan signing. So how well have Arsenal done this summer? Could their transfer business see them challenge for the Premier League title once again?

Kaci feels somewhat cheated by the Venture Bros. season finale. Here's her review of The Devil's Grip...
This review contains spoilers.
5.8 The Devil's Grip
Well, Venturoos, we waited for three years for the fifth season of The Venture Bros., and now it has come and gone. This week's episode is a good episode of television, but I'm not so sure it's a very good finale. I guess I'm used to there being high stakes at the end of each season, to being given a huge "gasp!" moment to go out on and hold me captivated until the next season picks up. This show has never shied away from huge stake-finales or leaving us with major cliffhangers. This episode didn't do that. But it's still a pretty great episode of the show, so I have to admit to you that I'm completely torn. I both...

Keith Lemon has told Digital Spy that he would love to have Kelly Brook and Katie Price "fight it out" together on Celebrity Juice.
The alter ego of Leigh Francis denied having banned Price from the ITV2 show after she described former team captain Brook "a heffer" in her newspaper column, sparking a feud that is still alive months later.
"I'll stick by my mate Kelly though thick and thin," Lemon told us. "I don't think Katie Price should have said that Kelly is a heffer, because she is, but only when she's not got her make-up on, and I don't think Katie Price has seen Kelly without her make-up on. Only me and Danny Cappuccino have."
He continued: "I'd like to have them both on at the same time so she can either apologise or they can fight it out, that'd be good. There were rumours that I banned...

Continuing his current career as Go-To Older Action Man With Family Issues And/Or Wolves, Liam Neeson is now in negotiations to tackle crime thriller The All Nighter (which has also been called Run All Night), according to The Wrap. While that first title makes it sound like he’s taking on a Hangover-style comedy, it’s actually the tale of an aging hit man who goes up against his former mob employers in one blood-soaked night. Looking to protect his estranged family, he then has to go on the run from the gangsters’ retaliation as well as the authorities. The film has been in development for nearly a year now, ever since Warner Bros. bought Out Of The Furnace writer Brad Ingelsby’s script. There’s no sign of a director on board yet, so this one will likely linger in limbo for a little longer.Neeson, however will...

Sean Penn: Action man? Sure, why not? Though he often sticks to more dramatic roles, it seems that Penn is happy to pick up a gun at the moment. He’ll be seen early next year as the villain in Gangster Squad, and now comes word that he’s in negotiations to play the hero in action thriller Prone Gunman. Just don’t go thinking that this is Penn signing up to be a slightly older, crankier sniper. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s being put together by Joel Silver and will be based on Jean-Patrick Manchette’s novel. The basic plot seems Bourne again, with international operative Martin Terrier betrayed by the organisation he works for, sparking a cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. At every turn, he’s dogged by those out to stop him. Dogged. Because his name is Terrier. Dogged. We’d get our coat, but...

With Lucasfilm and Marvel now under the heavy crown of the Mouse House, could Disney be making another play that will make them one of the biggest tentpole players in town? Again, it's just rumor, but it's not totally outside the realm of possibility, but here it is: Disney may be in talks to buy Hasbro. The news comes from MTV Geek who say they "have it on good authority" that discussions are being had over caviar and champagne with big wigs at both companies. So, could it be true? Certainly, outside of "Transformers," Hasbro has been having a helluva time launching other properties with only "Stretch Armstrong" currently with a solid release date, while other titles like "Monopoly," "Ouija," "Clue," "Hungry Hungry Hippos," "Action Man" and more all remain brewing/stalled in development. A company like Disney could not only produce those pictures, but they already do multi-platform licensing.

Hasbro's deal with Emmett/Furla will also see Monopoly and Action Man turned into blockbuster films
It is a poser that even the most creative of screenwriters might struggle with: how to adapt the children's game Hungry Hungry Hippos into a blockbuster movie. Nevertheless, that is the task facing Hollywood's brightest minds this morning after manufacturer Hasbro confirmed last week that it is planning a big-screen outing for the brightly coloured plastic playthings.
Hungry Hungry Hippos is part of a roster of planned films that also includes Monopoly (a project that at one point had Ridley Scott attached) and Britain's Action Man, the latter despite his American cousin GI Joe having already featured twice in multiplexes. Hasbro has been inspired by the multibillion-dollar success of its Transformers franchise in the hands of Michael Bay, and apparently has not let Battleship's disappointing $300m (on a $200m budget) haul earlier this year...

When news of a Battleship movie struck, some Gtbp fans said "what's next Monopoly?" And now that Battleship has crashed and burned, Monopoly is in route to a theater near. What's next Hungry Hungry Hippos? Yes. The L.A. Times reported earlier today that these infamous marble gobbling menaces are big screen bound, along with everyones' favorite money game and Action Man. Hasbro is probably thinking cha-ching right now.
The plan, by production company Emmett/Furla Films is to release each within the next few years.

1.) The Kick-Ass 2 production wrapped their work in Toronto and has moved on to London and director Jeff Wadlow tweeted the image to the right saying, "What do you keep in your coffin?" If you were hoping that the failure of Battleship at the box office this past summer meant that we were finally out of the woods when it comes to board game movies, you may be dismayed by this next bit of news. It appears that Hasbro is not ready to give up on Hollywood just yet. The company announced a new deal with independent production company Emmett/Furla Films this week that includes plans for three movies over the next few years. The properties involved in the deal are Monopoly, Action Man and... Hungry Hungry Hippos. Because hey, even though Battleship didn't work, clearly a Hungry Hungry Hippos movie is what the world has really been asking for. The news comes courtesy of The L.A. Times, who inform us that all three films are being envisioned as "family movies with broad appeal" that will be produced "in budget ranges where we are comfortable.

Hasbro’s stock is still way down from last year, but it’s actually climbed upward after the abomination that was Battleship tried to puncture everyone’s eardrums with pure awful. Maybe it triggered more Transformer toy sales? At the very least, something must have worked. Or someone high up thinks it did. Luckily for humanity at large, the toy company is still convinced it belongs in the filmmaking business, financing partnerships that amount to wide-release commercials for their products. As if to calm all of our fears, they announced that they were still dedicated to bringing Hungry Hungry Hippos, Monopoly and Action Man to the big screen. Who knows if they’ll ever actually get made, but if they don’t, we can still get a view into what the trailer for the Hippos movie will look like thanks to our good friend ChugsTheMonkey and his mash-up skills. Hasbro isn't willing to let the toy to movie trend die. Before Battleship tanked at the box office, Universal backed out of their 8-picture deal with the toy maker. Emmett/Furla Films will make movies out of Hungry Hungry Hippos, Monopoly and Action Man. Of course, what's kind of weird is that Emmett/Furla makes Rated R manly man action movies like Jake Gyllenhaal's End of Watch in theaters now and Rambo.

Hasbro has signed a deal with Emmett/Furla, the production house run by Randall Emmett and George Furla, to produce three movies based on three of their properties within the next two years.
While Monopoly and Action Man are expected to lens first, the third project is a bizarre one:
Hungry Hungry Hippos: The Movie!
(I added “The Movie” because I can’t imagine the title not including it out of sheer commitment to the film’s inherent silliness).
What would a Hungry Hungry Hippos movie be about? If it’s not about hippos that’ve acquired a taste for human flesh (especially children) run amok in New York City, I don’t see a point in making the damn thing.

Hasbro has had a lot of success with their "Transformers" toys after teaming for the film trilogy with Paramount Pictures. The company attempted to replicate the results with Universal Pictures and their "Battleship" property, but the movie turned out to be a flop. Soon after Universal decided not to proceed with any more Hasbro movies. Hasbro has now announced that it has signed a deal with Emmet/Furla to finance and co-produce three movies in the next two years, including "Monopoly," "Action Man" and "Hungry Hungry Hippos." "Monopoly" will be the first movie to go into production. The plan is to begin filming in 2013. Ridley Scott(Prometheus) was previously on board to direct, but now he's only producing. "Hungry Hungry Hippos" is being planned as an animated film.

Hasbro is looking to finally get some of their toy and game properties up on the big screen, and they recently signed a deal with an independent production and finance company named Emmett/Furla Films to do it. It's a three picture deal that will include Monopoly, Action Man and Hungry Hungry Hippos.
Monopoly will be the first movie to get made, and they hope to start production on it sometime in 2013. Monopoly was previously in production at Universal with Ridley Scott attached to direct and produce. It also had a screenplay written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. There's no word on if that same script will be used or if they will start from scratch.
It's kind of funny to hear that Hungry Hungry Hippos is actually going to be a movie. It's something we've all joked about, but it's being planned as an animated film, which I guess could work.

A story in the La Times today confirms Hasbro's plans to continue making movies based on many of their most popular toys and board games, despite the lackluster performance of Battleship back in May. On the agenda first is that Monopoly movie we've been cracking jokes about for years, with Ridley Scott still signed on to produce. Apparently that may be in production by next year, with plans to also make an Action Man movie and a Hungry Hungry Hippos movie, too. Action Man is a British toy from the '60s that was inspired by G.I. Joe, and talk of a film has been tossed about for some time now, whereas Hungry Hungry Hippos is the head-scratcher of the lot. The game, which involves using a lever and a plastic hippo to scarf up as many marbles as you can, doesn't seem...

When Battleship came out, it inspired a slew of fake movie posters, including one for a Hungry Hungry Hippos movie. Well, be careful what you joke about, because it looks like Hasbro is making this mockery a reality! Earlier this year, Hasbro's pact with Universal fell apart, but now production company Emmett/Furla has stepped in and resurrected the seemingly defunct Monopoly movie and signed a deal for two additional films. One of those will be based on Action Man, who is basically British G.I. Joe, and the other will be based on Hungry Hungry Hippos. According to the L.A. As you might of heard, Battleship wasn.t exactly a big success. While it did manage to make money overseas, here in the States it only managed to gross $65 million on a $209 million budget (not to mention that it opened in second place to The Avengers, which had already been in theaters for three weeks). You.d think it would be enough to have studios shy away from the idea of bringing board games to the big screen, but apparently Hollywood is a magical place where everything.s made up and the points don.t matter. According to The Los Angeles Times, Emmet/Furla Films has signed a deal with Hasbro that will see them produce movies based on games like Monopoly, Hungry Hungry Hippos and Action Man. While a truly original and interesting movie like Charlie Kaufman's "Frank or Francis" struggles to scrape together the $10 million dollars more it needs to get made, it's a pretty good indication of where we're at these days that movies based on Hasbro games/toys "Monopoly," "Action Man" and "Hungry Hungry Hippos" are happening. Because who among us hasn't been sitting down during the fourth hour of a grueling game of "Monopoly" only to say, "Man, this would make a really great movie!" Well, Emmett/Furla must have said it because they are coming on board, signing a three-picture deal with the toymaker with a goal of starting production on "Monopoly" in 2013. Even though it would have appeared Hollywood learned a lesson with this summer’s Battleship which lost Universal $80 million dollars on their extravagant investment, Hasbro and independent production and finance company Emmett/Furla Films have singed a deal to bring more board game properties to the big screen – oh joy.
Making things even more perplexing is the proposed games to be adapted which, with the exception of perhaps Action Man, have even less potential for feature length adaptation than Battleship, and that’s saying something.
Production on Monopoly is hoping to begin in 2013 from a screenplay by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (a perplexing duo whose scripts range from Ed Wood to Agent Cody Banks). Ridley Scott was rumoured for the project a while back as well, though don’t expect to see him jumping on to this one, if he was ever legitimately considering it in the first place.

Edwina Currie and Sally Burton are to publish diaries – and they have other women in their sights
If ever there was a tale of two diaries, it's now. Both Edwina Currie and Sally Burton are to publish diaries – the former, her second volume, the latter, those of her husband, the late actor Richard. Both tomes exude a background hum of ulterior motivation so obvious that it's almost delicious.
First, Currie's diaries, the "good bits" already filleted out by the Daily Mail. Currie has every right to publish. In a way, I applaud her refusal to dissemble, and spare fellow politicos' blushes. Her unceasing conceit and dearth of self-awareness are also priceless. On Planet Edwina: she's only passed over for jobs because people are intimidated by her; almost every man she meets desires her; and all other women are judged on whether they have the job she wants and/or their weight.
