"Die tollen Tanten schlagen zu" is a German 90minute movie from 1971, so this one has its 45th anniversary this year. The director is Franz Josef Gottlieb and the writer is Erich Tomek and if you know a bit about German film history and about these two, then you already know what to expect here, namely a huge pile of garbage. This is what it is. And if you don't know these two, then maybe you will see that this film is actually the third of a trilogy that sucked from the beginning and was only bearable during the second film because movies 1 and 3 (this one here) were truly abysmal. The cast once again includes Rudi Carrell, Chris Roberts and Ilja Richter who prove to us that acting is far from their biggest strength. Then again, probably no actor at all could have made this abysmal script work with all the try-hard unfunny jokes from start to finish. As with the other two, there is some relationship comedy in here, about love and friendship, and some not really well-known but pretty attractive young female actors who serve as potential love interests for our "heroes". And there are actually more known names. I like Theo Lingen, but not even he (especailly not with the way it was written) could save this one. Hans Kraus (known from his school prank films) and Trude Herr add almost nothing either, Lingen is probably the only gifted cast member here and even if he plays the same character as he always does, he is still fairly fun occasionally. As for this film overall, for me I give it a major thumbs-down and it was quite a failure. I am truly glad the series ended afterward and they did not make a 4th crappy movie.

Even as a kid, I thought this was stupid

Yet another crossdressing comedy in the history of the often imitated but never beaten "Some Like it hot" - this time with mediocre German comedians, and the ever-irritating Ilja Richter (I think the only good entertainment he ever took a part in was moderating a German TV Schlagerparade). I can't remember plot details, but I clearly remember thinking that this had the worst fist fight scene finale of any movie I've ever seen - at a time when I was 10 and thought Bud Spencer and Terence Hill movies were cool with good action scenes.... So imagine how poor this one was.

Really only for kids. But even they won't like it...
