Three decades after winning her first Emmy for her lead role in the ABC movie “The Dollmaker,” Jane Fonda earned her second acting nomination for her guest performance on the HBO drama series “The Newsroom.” She eventually appeared on 10 of the show’s 25 episodes as Atlantis World Media CEO Leona Lansing, whose reign over the fictional Acn network’s news team was characterized by an unflinchingly no-nonsense attitude. Many viewers drew comparisons between Lansing and CNN founder Ted Turner, to whom Fonda was married for 10 years.
Fonda’s portrayal of Lansing brought her a total of two Best Drama Guest Actress bids, the second of which she received at age 76. At the time, she was the seventh oldest woman to ever contend for the award, and she now sits at 10th place. All three of the women who have been added to the list in the last eight years are...

After many votes have been tabulated, Barbra Streisand and Meryl Streep are your top two choices to receive the 2022 Screen Actors Guild life achievement award. In our recent poll featuring 10 actress possibilities, these two Oscar winners were far and above the top vote-getters and finished in a very tight race. See full vote percentages below.
The SAG-AFTRA committee will most likely be announcing their life achievement award recipient in the near future for the ceremony next February. This event skipped the annual tradition in 2021 for a pre-taped, shortened ceremony. It was three men in a row for the most recent ceremonies, so our guess is that it will be a woman this time. All 10 of these actresses in the poll had two things in common with typical decisions by this committee: at least 65 years old with a history of charitable and/or humanitarian works.

Jane Fonda will provide the lead voice in “Luck,” an animated feature film from Apple and Skydance Animation.
Apple on Wednesday closed a multiyear deal with Skydance to distribute its animated projects, including the films “Luck” and “Spellbound.” The company also gave a two-season order to the new show “The Search for WondLa.”
“Luck” is the story of an unlucky girl who, after stumbling upon the never-before-seen world of good and bad luck, must join together with magical creatures to uncover a force more powerful than even luck itself. Fonda will voice “The Dragon,” the exuberant CEO of the world of Good Luck and the luckiest ancient being in all the land. When bad luck starts to spin out of control in her world, she must face her fears or risk losing good luck forever.
Peggy Holmes (“Secret of the Wings”) is directing the film from a script by Kiel Murray.

At the 1962 Golden Globes ceremony, Judy Garland became the first woman to be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for career achievement, after 10 men had received it before her. That same year, 24-year-old Jane Fonda was named one of three recipients of the now retired Most Promising Female Newcomer award for her debut in Joshua Logan’s “Tall Story.” Over the six decades since, Fonda has become one of the most lauded actresses in the history of the Golden Globes. At age 83, she is set to further solidify that distinction, having now been chosen as the newest and 16th female recipient of the DeMille award.

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) will present producer-actress Jane Fonda with the Guild’s 2019 Stanley Kramer Award. The two-time Oscar-winner is being honored for her lifetime activism and philanthropy. She will receive the award at the 30th Annual Producers Guild Awards on January 19, 2019 at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles.

She has also given her untiring support to many political and social causes. They include her nonprofit, the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential, for which she celebrated her 80th birthday last December by raising $1.3 million to lower the teen pregnancy...

Welcome to Essex is a new zombie horror film from writer-director Ryan J Fleming which will have its UK premier at The Romford Film Festival on Thursday 24th May. I got a chance to talk to ask lead actress Catherine Delaloye a few questions about; how she first got into acting, what it was like working on the film and her favourite moments during filming.
How did you first get into acting?
I grew up with a very creative mom who used to encourage my siblings and I to put together little family plays. We would write, act and perform on these little productions. So, I guess I’ve been performing in some way for most of my life. I decided I wanted to start acting in films when I was around 15 years old and living in San Diego. Jane Fonda won her only Emmy for her searing performance as a World War II-era pioneer woman in the acclaimed 1984 telefilm “The Dollmaker.” At that time, she was one of those rare film stars to crossover to television. When she picked up her Emmy, she already had two Best Actress Oscars for “Klute” (1971) and “Coming Home” (1978) on her mantle. Since then, she has reaped four more Emmy bids, including last year for the third season of her Netflix comedy “Grace and Frankie,” but has yet to win again.
She lost her most recent Emmy race to Julie-Louis Dreyfus, who picked up her record sixth consecutive trophy for “Veep.” However, with that political satire taking a hiatus, Fonda could finally pick up a bookend Emmy. She will have formidable competition in the likes of Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Allison Janney (“Mom”) and co-star Lily Tomlin, among others.

Among the many famous actors and actresses being honored at the 19th annual Hollywood Film Awards, few are as legendary as Jane Fonda. She’s hoping to be in contention for another Oscar this year with Youth, and the Hollywood Supporting Actress Award she’s receiving certainly won’t hurt those chances. She’s now almost guaranteed to be in the running for at least an Academy Award nomination, though as much as anything this honor just shows how viable she still is decades into her career. Fonda is one of the best in the business at her craft, plain and simple. As such, this 2015 moment in the sun for her is unlikely to be even close to her last… Here’s part of the press release once again announcing this honor: Academy Award® winning actress Jane Fonda will receive the “Hollywood Supporting Actress Award” for her role Paolo Sorrentino’s Youth.

Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, who co-starred in the hit film "Nine to Five" in 1980, will reunite for the new Netflix comedy series "Grace and Frankie." The 13-episode show will debut in 2015. The plot focuses on the two actresses as long-time rivals who find their lives turned upside down when their husbands fall in love. They surprisingly find that all they have this late in life is each other. Fonda is a two time Oscar winner ("Klute," 1971; "Coming Home," 1978) who also is a past Emmy champ ("The Dollmaker," 1984). She earned another Emmy nomination last year for her guest role on "The Newsroom." "Are you near the restaurant? Because Jane Fonda has a habit of being early for meetings."
That was the worried voice on the other side of a phone call I received from one of Jane Fonda's publicist shortly before our interview. And I wasn't close. I wasn't going to be late, but I certainly wasn't going to be early. Thoughts of Jane Fonda admonishing me for my lack of perceived punctuality seeped into my consciousness. I mean, certainly, at this stage of her career, Jane doesn't have to put up with the likes of me.
Needless to say, I hailed the next cab.
I met Fonda at a crowded Manhattan restaurant near Central Park. (Yes, this was one of those moments in this job in which I couldn't help thinking, Wow, that's Jane Fonda sitting across from me. What am I doing here?) Fonda was concerned that I wasn't ordering anything.

Drummer with the Band whose career stretched in many other directions
Levon Helm – a life in pictures
A shorthand way of describing Levon Helm, who has died of cancer aged 71, would be as the drummer with the Band, who were Bob Dylan's backing group as he made the leap from folk to rock, and then forged a hugely influential career of their own in the late 1960s and 70s. This would have made Helm eminent enough, but his career stretched in many other directions, as drummer with the rock'n'roller Ronnie Hawkins, solo artist, prolific film actor and, most recently, host of the all-star Midnight Ramble Sessions. He was an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, and a fine and distinctive singer.
He was born Mark Lavon Helm in Elaine, Arkansas, the second of Nell and Diamond Helm's four children. His father was a cotton farmer but also a music lover, and the Grand Ole Opry...

Jane Fonda has told of her sadness after learning The Band star Levon Helm is reaching the "final stages" of his cancer battle, hailing the drummer as "astonishing".
Helm's wife Sandy and daughter Amy posted a message on his website on Tuesday asking fans to send "prayers and love" to the stricken rocker, who is close to death.
Fonda worked with Helm on 1984 American TV movie The Dollmaker and she's opened up about her memories of him in a moving post on her blog.
She writes, "I got to know Levon personally because he played my husband in the ABC movie The Dollmaker. He was kind and deep and devoted to music, as a singer and playing not only drums, but harmonica, fiddle, mandolin, you name it.
"All you have to do is rent The Last Waltz, the documentary that Martin Scorsese made of The Band's last performance together to be reminded what an astonishing drummer Levon was.
"He gave the Band it's powerful, driving force, a wall of pulsating rhythm. And his voice - singing The Weight - all deep soul. I am so sad."...
