Circumlocative

I'm not positive of the point. What I know is there is something in that drink that sends the drunken man on a ride on a devil like horse. The animation steals the show because the plot of this short takes a lot of work to figure out.

Warning: Spoilers
This short was nominated for an Academy Award for Animated Short. There will be spoilers ahead:

This short is a quite unusual short. It centers around one drunk whose principal focus is getting his next bottle. He fills his empty bottle from a horse trough and gets a frog into the bargain.

He goes into a bar, orders a bottle, puts it in his pouch and, when he then has no money to pay for it, the barkeep demands the bottle back. He switches bottles, giving the bottle with the frog instead. Problems ensue and he beats a hasty retreat to his horse and leaves town. That's where the "fun" begins.

This is a spooky horseback ride indeed. The drunk sees a naked woman and then his horse gets spooked and his life gets interesting. The woman turns into a devil, among other things and the drunk and a dog barely escape with their lives.

Back at the saloon, the drunk ultimately pays for the same bottle he switched to begin the nightmare. The end is eerie and best watched cold.

This short isn't in print, but it can be found online and is well worth watching. Most recommended.
