Interesting, low budget, hyper real drama

Made by the Amber Production Team, a collective of UK based filmmakers who make their small, Ken Loach-like films as a group.

It's a simple, honest tale, of a collage age girl working on her father's fishing boat for 10 days. The all male crew are uncomfortable, angry, intrigued with having a woman on board. The women on land are jealous and mistrustful.

Cast with semi and non pro actors, the faces are great – nothing Hollywood here, these are real, unglamorous people, living real, unglamorous lives.

The acting ranges from good enough to terrific, and there's some tension and production value as the boat weathers a real life storm storm.

On the down side, on the writing level some of the characters don't go far beyond archetype, and the overall effect is without a lot of emotion. I'm glad I saw it, but I don't know that I'll feel a need to return to it again.
