The American Music Shop was one of the greatest music shows ever. Even now, No show has given us the variety and talent that was aired on this program. Heavy's from Country, Folk, Blues, Bluegrass, Zydeco, would give these amazing performances with as much energy as being at their live shows. The production and sound quality was far superior to any thing CMT could ever do today. I still regularly watch the shows I was lucky enough to have taped. After the show had ended, I asked Jerry Douglas and Mark O'Connor if they missed doing the show, both said yes. I wish that the powers that be would sell the shows to syndication. That way More of the world could enjoy the rich flavor this varied musical flow gave us each week when it aired. The other Show that TNN produced with Terry Lacona of Austin City Limits fame, was just as good, Texas Connection hosted by Jerry Jeff Walker.

Low key brilliance!

Came across this while exploring the elegies about the recent passing of Nanci Griffith. American Music Shop was a series of of 1-hr specials, each episode with different host and featured various singer/songwriters.
Music was variously country / folk / traditional - minimal Nashville glitz.
I came across this one exploring the outpouriug of salutes, elegies etc on the passing of the magnificent Nanci Griffith (August '21) She hosted Townes Van Zandt (3 wonderful songs), Janis Ian, Jerry Jeff Walker, Frank Christian
These episodes are not easy to find - but well worth the effort!
