Doctor Who has thousands of unproduced story concepts. Indeed, the first ever story ‘An Unearthly Child’ was based on a completely different idea: C.E. Webber’s ‘The Giants’, in which the Doctor and co. would have been shrunken down and faced comparatively massive Earth insects, was in an original series document produced for Doctor Who, and had Rex Tucker assigned to direct.
‘The Giants’ was vetoed for a combination of technical reasons: the small and outdated studio assigned to Doctor Who wasn’t up to the task of giant insects. Said insects drew the ire of Doctor Who co-creator Sydney Newman, who famously disliked bug-eyed monsters – you can’t get any more bug-eyed than literal bugs. Aspects of it ended up in the Season 2 story ‘Planet of Giants’, and the opening scene – where teenager Sue and her teachers Cliff and Lola meet Dr Who (sic) in the fog – was adapted...

What’s next for James Gunn and the Guardians of the Galaxy? It is possible that the franchise could be heading back to its original roots, The Ravagers. They were the Guardians of the Galaxy back before Peter Quill and his crew took over. Fans actually got to see them in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The Ravagers shown in the film were Stakar Ogord, Aleta Ogord (who eventually meld together into the being known as Starhawk), Martinex, Charlie 27, and Mainframe, who MIley Cyrus lent her voice to. In speaking with Collider, James Gunn spoke of a potential, for lack of a better word, spinoff of the franchise.

If you think working in the greater comic book conspiracy is all fun and games – well… there’s a lot of truth to that. For example, where else can you go to the movies, call it work and then take the ticket price off your taxes?
Last Thursday, I joined fellow ComicMixers Adriane Nash and Joe Corallo in the wildlands of Milford Connecticut (where the phrase “Milf” was coined) for the debut of Guardians of the Galaxy Volume Two. We went for the full movie monty: IMAX 3-D at a ticket price that would cause Uncle Scrooge to quit working for Disney. When I plop my ass down in a movie theater seat, I am hoping I’m not wasting my time and all that energy I spent looking for a parking place. In the case of next month’s Wonder Woman, I will plop my ass down in a...

Walt Disney is a genius. Whether you like his movies or not is irrelevant. The work he did legitimizing animation as an art form has brought about many years of great movies and shorts from the likes of Disney, Warner Brothers, Hanna Barbera, and many others. He formed his own movie studio which has turned into a juggernaut, responsible for movies like Pulp Fiction from their Miramax Films brand, Toy Story from Pixar, Beauty and the Beast, and many others. He realized the importance of branding by opening his own theme parks, Disney Land and Disney World. So it begs to question why the last words Walt Disney ever wrote were "Kurt Russell".
The last image you see before you die?
The Huffington Post brought up Disney's last words due to Kurt Russell starring as Ego The Living Planet in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2. Kurt has been acting for years,...

Plenty of people were coming up with theory after theory of who Star Lord's father would end up being after Guardians of the Galaxy was released. When it was finally announced that Star Lord's dad was Ego the Living Planet, many people, myself included didn't believe it. It was just too crazy. Especially if you've seen Ego in any of the Comics. He's a Planet with a Goatee. No joke! That's who Ego is, and even Gunn knew how crazy of an Idea it was. It was so crazy that he didn't tell anyone this secret until the first movie was a hit. He revealed in an interview with Cinemablend:
"I knew who Ego was as a character, I knew what he was able to do, but I didn't initially know I was going to use Ego The Living Planet as that character - if that makes sense. But it...

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is looming closer and closer, and the Marvel and Disney promotional departments are hard at work making sure we are all drooling by the time it arrives. This is not necessary for me, as at the end of the first installment, when the scroll came up that read, "Guardians of the Galaxy Will Return," I have been drooling ever since then. This has caused problems at work, but that is neither here nor there. The important issue here is that a new TV spot was released and we bring it to you now.
Basically, what I can read into this tv spot is that The Guardians are completely outnumbered, and have no hope to survive. Drax suggests, "We need new odds." Then we see a boatload of action scenes, and quite a bit of footage of Yondu fighting alongside the team. Something terrible must...

The director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, James Gunn, after answering a question on Twitter, has apparently confirmed that there will at least be one post credit scene. Either that, or he Really wants us to see the "no harm has been done to any animals in this film" scroll that is in almost every movie. He had this to say:
All I’ll say is, unless you have to rush out because your mother is dying, stay through the entire end credits. https://t.co/c58nzDeCnp
— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) March 11, 2017
In almost every McU movie there has been some type of post-credits scene which leads into the next film, or at least an upcoming film. For example, in Doctor Strange, he was sitting with Thor magically filling up his beer mug. That scene was obviously meant for Thor: Ragnarok. So let's take a look at some upcoming...

We just recently saw the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 trailer, that gave us quite a good look at Ego, The Living Planet, including the surface of the planet itself (if you had a good eye) and also we further learned about Nebula's status, as she was seen in handcuffs, at least at one point, and we discovered that Yondu does seem to betray the Ravagers -- or vice-versa.
However, there was not too much more information on the actual roles of the main five characters in the film. Yesterday, Cinemablend set down with James Gunn (director/writer) during Los Angeles press day for his upcoming movie The Belko Experiment, and he was asked some questions about the main characters roles in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, and where the movie will take each character in their story arc.

It seems like we’ve already seen a ton from Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, what with the first trailer, the second trailer, and the Super Bowl spot, but Marvel has just released a third trailer that shows a few more clips of the Guardians having thrilling space adventures and bickering over who is allowed to use guns and whether or not they should go out of their way to annoy the bad guys. It’s all predictably entertaining and features a lot of the same stuff as the Super Bowl trailer, but in true Marvel fashion, this trailer ends with a big moment: Kurt Russell introducing himself as Star-Lord’s dad. We’ve known for a while that Russell would be showing up in the film as both Ego The Living Planet and his human-sized avatar, but this is the first time we actually get to see him...

Sneak Peek your first look @ Kurt Russell ("The Thing") as Marvel Comics' 'Ego the Living Planet', a world-devouring, cosmic entity appearing in Marvel Studios' "Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2":
Debuting in Marvel Comics' "Thor" #132 (Sept. 1966), followed by stories in DC Comics, 'Ego the Living Planet' was created by writer/illustrator Jack Kirby as as "...a planet that was alive, A planet that was intelligent. I felt somewhere out in the universe, the universe becomes denser and turns liquid...
"...and that in this liquid, there was a giant multiple virus, and if isolated for millions and millions of years, it would ... begin to evolve by itself and it would begin to think. By the time we reached it, it might be quite superior to us — and that was 'Ego'..."
Ego is exceptionally intelligent, although as its name suggests, it harbors an extreme superiority complex and can be emotional if thwarted.

In the McU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), The Infinity Stones (aka Infinity Gems or Soul Gems) are items of absolute power created by Cosmic Entities before the universe exploded into existence. But what are they, and where are they now?
To help answer this question, we've put together this primer to help you sort through the dozen-plus films that have hit so far, and even go on to speculate in which film we'll be seeing the mysterious Soul Stone, which has yet to make its official McU appearance.

The guys over at comicbook.com were able to get an exclusive with production designer Charles Wood, whose work for Marvel includes; Thor: The Dark World, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Doctor Strange, and the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War. While a few of these movies were not the best submissions by Marvel, all of them looked beautiful and two of them stick out in my mind -- Doctor Strange and Guardians Of The Galaxy. Both of these films had intricate and visually appealing sets, think of the Sanctum Sanctorum or the psychedlic ride through alternate dimension in Doctor Strange, and the interstellar prison or the Knowhere scene in GotG. He does kick arse work, and it was only logical that Marvel would hire him to Infinity War as well.
Wood was asked about the daunting task of creating the Infinity War world after he was handed the script for the forthcoming movie.

Ok, so maybe this pic would be more seductive, at least to me, if it was Gamora's head in the forefront of the image as opposed to Drax's fat noggin. Instead, Star-Lord is giving much more of an incredulous look, perhaps Drax is pondering the metaphorical meaning of life, maybe he is wondering how a planet could also be a father, or it's possible he decided that everyone is responsible for killing his family so everyone must die. Either way, more and more images of Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 are trickling in and I'll take what I can get concerning one of my favorite franchises of all time.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is the sequel to Guardians Of The Galaxy, a surprise megahit in the Marvel superfranchise, that focuses on a group of space "pirates" turned heroes, the aftermath of Ronin's defeat, and the relationship with...

Yesterday it was reported that Marvel and Fox worked together for a character trade. Fox wanted the rights to Negasonic Teenage Warhead for Deadpool, and Marvel wanted back the rights to Ego The Living Planet, who will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It's pretty cool that the two worked together to make this happen. It seems each of the studios was in a tight spot, but James Gunn must have been really sweating it.
In a recent Facebook post from the director, he confirmed this news was true. He also explained that when he wrote the Guardians sequel he thought Marvel already owned the rights to Ego. He went on to say that Ego was so important to the story that there was absolutely no back up plan, so getting the rights to Ego from Fox was vital to the movie. Gunn explained:
"Yes, this is true!

Five minutes ago, I would not have been able to guess that there was a connection between Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. One is an irreverent, hard R-rated, ultra-violent, Earth-centric, meta movie about one main character, while the other appears to be a more offbeat yet still populist-leaning ensemble that continues the adventures of an unorthodox team of good-hearted space pirates. But according to The Playlist, the connection is real.
Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds and co-writer Paul Wernick appeared at a Q&A for the film this past weekend, and they spoke about now Marvel Studios had to get involved in the production and swap the rights for Negasonic Teenage Warhead with Kurt Russell's Ego The Living Planet from Guardians 2.
"We were looking down the list of the 400 [‘X-Men’] characters that Fox owns, and Ntw jumped out and we were like, ‘yes. I don’t care what her powers are.

Talk about confidence.
Chris Pratt, who is set to return to a screen near you as Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, in the upcoming sequel Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2, is feeling pretty good about the movie. The film, which will once again be directed by James Gunn, and has upped the already impressive star power of its cast, was always going to be bigger in scope, but Pratt says it's going to be the biggest.
The actor, who also top-lined Jurassic World- a film that broke all kinds of records last year-, says that Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 is actually going to one-up everything we've ever seen. Ever.
Here's what he told the Toronto Sun:
"It's a fabulous script. I think it's going to be- I'm not using hyperbole, here - I think it's going to be the biggest spectacle movie of all time."

All hail Chris Pratt.
In an interview with Empire, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 writer/director James Gunn revealed that it was initially Pratt's idea to cast living, breathing badass Kurt Russell as Star-Lord's father in the movie:
“He was actually not in my head initially, but one day Chris suggested him,” explains Gunn, "and I would have been really disappointed if he’d said no. Hey, if you have to cast anything, Kurt’s a pretty good way to go.”
Hell yeah, he's a pretty good way to go! The guy has played a ton of iconic film characters over the course of his fifty-plus year career, and he seems like a perfect fit to play Ego The Living Planet in this sequel. (I haven't seen the footage from the film that played at Comic-Con, but everyone seems to agree that the masses in Hall H were extremely pleased with what they saw.

This weekend's panel for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 came with the incredibly surprising news that Kurt Russell would be playing Ego The Living Planet, and that this famous cosmic character would be Star Lord's father. While the identity of Peter Quill's Dad was a mystery in the first film, it was never really implied by any of the Marvel team that they wouldn't be revealing his identity for the sequel's promotion. However, there were still groups of fans who were upset with Gunn for divulging what they thought would be a well-kept secret. Gunn, in his usual fashion, took to his Facebook page to respond. “People have been particularly excited, confused, and supportive of keeping 'Marvel Cosmic' truly cosmic with the reveal of Peter Quill's father's identity....I get it. If we lived in a perfect world, I wouldn't tell you Anything before you walked in to see...

Since February, we’ve known that Kurt Russell would be playing Peter Quill’s dad in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, but director James Gunn has been suspiciously cagey about who that character would actually be. The end of the first movie claimed he’d be someone ancient and mysterious, but would they keep the backstory of the comics and make him J’Son Of Spartax, a space-king who is also a big asshole? At Comic-Con last week, Gunn finally confirmed who Star-Lord’s father is, and it’s someone that nobody could’ve really predicted, because it’s not really someone at all: It’s Ego, The Living Planet, a longtime Marvel space villain who is exactly what he sounds like.

So people in Hall H got some exclusive news and footage for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It's official. Kurt Russell is playing Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord's father in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 and he goes by the name of Ego, also known as The Living Planet. Not a lot of information is out there about James Gunn's soon to film "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" beyond the film exploring the subplot of the true father of Peter Quill (Chris Pratt).
Now, a report at Geek.com claims that a famed and rather unique character from the comics is making an appearance in the follow-up film - Ego, The Living Planet.
In the comics, Ego was a planet that developed organ-like masses, including a brain, underneath its surface. It acquired consciousness and the ability to move around in space under its own power - ultimately setting out on a goal of universal domination. It crossed the paths of the likes Thor, the Fantastic Four, Galactus and Thanos.
Gunn has indicated he won't discuss spoiler reports so no confirmation or denials are expected at this point. The 'Guardians' sequel is about to begin filming ahead of a May 2017 release.

All of a sudden I find myself in the midst of a half-dozen publishing projects. All are comics, and all but one are comics stories.
Here’s the rub: I’m dying to tell you about them. Really. I’d kill to tell you about them. But I can’t. I’m not the publisher, I’m not the artist, I’m not the writer of most of them, and I’m not the publicist. So it’s not my place to blab. I’m the editor, the dealmaker, and in at least one case the conceptualizer. So you’d think my ego, which even I call The Hulk, could handle a bit of a wait.
Well, no. That’s why I call my ego The Hulk. That’s why, when Jack Kirby came up with an entire living planet named Ego (Thor #132, cover-dated September 1966), I identified like crazy.
There’s another reason.

Hal Jordan is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris, if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all. See the fourth badge down? Well, speculation is pointing at that being Mogo, The Living Planet! (don't worry if you've got no idea who or what that is, there's a brief character bio below) While there's a chance that this could be Oa,...
