Lame hardcore Allen Funt spoof
lor_25 August 2011
Revived on Vol. 93 of Something Weird's Dragon Art Theater series, THE PEEPING CAMERA is an unfunny takeoff on the popular "Candid Camera" series from TV innovator Allen Funt. Many softcore movies in the same vein were released later in the '70s and became drive-in staples, shown endlessly until the prints wore out.

Not so this baby, which besides its vulgar full title is subtitled (before George Lucas got the idea) with segments: "Series 1, Episode 1 - "Maiden in Distress", then an Episode 2 of same, followed by Episodes 1 and 2 of Series 2 - "Sex Survey".

"Carrie Miller" co-hosts with an unidentified guy, introducing dumb sex vignettes. First one has Carrie asking a nerd with mutton chops to dial a phone number for her, then she flashes him. Her car is stuck, so she needs to call the garage. She strokes the guy's groin, cueing a mechanical XXX scene: fellatio, ejaculation & cunnilingus.

Episode 2 of Carrie in distress is the same routine with another guy -strictly repetitious filler.

Back to our hosts introducing a Sex Survey involving a straight-laced married couple, asking about permissiveness in movie content re: sexual depictions. The prudish blonde wife reacts comically to dirty words, but responds positively when Carrie kisses her, leading to a lesbian scene (as both guys watch). Then hubby Bob joins in for a foursome.

Episode 2 of this survey has Randy and a redhead as the second couple, with latter masturbating. They're shocked when the hosts arrive, but lesbian action ensues and then troilism as the hosts double-team the redhead.

Film ends stupidly with Carrie jerking off (successfully) her co-host as she solicits audience ideas for future episodes. Hopefully no sequels were made.

The only interest for me was the anonymous filmmakers' choice of Lee Morgan's hit 1964 Blue Note LP "The Sidewinder" for their pirated soundtrack. Besides the title track, they also play the fast tempo "Totem Pole" from the same album, each lengthy tune two or three times. At least they had good taste in music.
