Little-known film with a few nice moments
inkblot1119 February 2004
Michael (Lee Coleman) owns a small camping and clothing store in a lake town. He inherited the store from his grandparents and is concerned that he won't be able to keep the store afloat. Two of Michael's close friends from childhood still live in the same community; they meet with him often to commiserate and offer him advice. The female friend, Beth, is concerned about Michael's lack of a lovelife and convinces him to go dancing at a club one night. There, he meets the lovely Cindy (Tirzah Wise). Soon, they are close enough to be considered a couple. Yet, Cindy has an unsettling past, including an abusive former boyfriend and a strained relationship with her parents. Will the pair remain in love or will Cindy's former life make it impossible?

This little-known, independent film is slow-moving and uneven. The script boasts some good ideas and several clever one-liners yet remains only half successful. Shot on a shoestring, there are no dazzling sets or scenery. On the other hand, the two stars are quite attractive (Coleman resembles Keanu Reeves) and this definitely adds to the viewer's enjoyment. Romantic comedy fans who have run out of alternative choices may want to try to locate this film. All others will most likely consider it a waste of time.
