THREADBARE FORMAT
J. Steed8 August 1999
Another one of those mainstream "mix-up of identities" love-comedies that tries to be modern with inserting a few (and indeed no more than that) new ideas into an old format. This time the new ideas are a lesbian relationship and a gay male choir (singing Russian traditionals); but it is to no avail: the comedy is of a threadbare format that needs more than some fixing up to be entertaining. At least it should have been done tongue-in-cheek, but neither director nor cast can give this comedy any inspiration (just doing our job here!).

Most visual jokes are badly executed (no feeling for timing and the medium) with some of them repeated ad nauseam. The director and his cameraman try to give this film some intellectual meaning and body using different styles of cinematography from the most primitive to the most inappropriate, making the film at moments simply irritating. You better give yourself another present instead.
