A good signal but a lot of dead air.
Yrmy24 November 2003
A routine sitcom about a struggling radio station populated by such stereotypes as a scheming but inept CEO motivated by money and jealousy; a snobbish newscaster; a naïve out-of-towner with a funny regional accent; and a young errand girl who is the most mature person in the house. Some good jokes about contemporary (the IT craze was still going strong at the time) and stock issues (proles-against-the-bosses work-place politics), but especially towards the end it got to be more and more often about the actors acting more and more outrageously and the studio audience laughing louder and louder to make us react to mediocre gags, such as the bilingual pun of the title ("sun radio" is colloquial Finnish for "your radio"), which simply weren't as side-splitting as the writers imagined. The cast were strong, especially Hietalahti and the ever-reliable Saarelainen, but oddly enough Larimo's character was replaced by two other women roles halfway through the series, for little gain. In its own time it was a nice diversion for a while, but I doubt it would have much impact seen again.
