video collection of the last years of Rainbow
didi-514 October 2004
This video collection, running just short of an hour, brings together all the promo videos from the last four line-ups of Rainbow (between 1979 and 1984). What's missing are the Dio-era promos (now just about to be released on DVD for the first time but circulating in bootleg form for years).

We have on this compliation - Since You Been Gone and All Night Long (both with Graham Bonnet and pretty blandly shot); I Surrender and Can't Happen Here (from Difficult to Cure, with new singer Joe Lynn Turner); Death Alley Driver (a conceit with Ritchie Blackmore as the devil chasing Joe Lynn on a motorbike); Street of Dreams and Can't Let You Go (from the final album before the band was dissolved, only to revive briefly with new members eleven years later). Also there are some numbers from the Japan Budokan concert of 1983, notably Spotlight Kid.

Quality throughout is pretty good and the clips are arranged in an order which is entertaining, and not chronological. A fairly substantial introduction to the band but make sure you get the CD 'Best of Rainbow' too for the full picture.
