For all us Deep Purple junkies from the 70's, Whitesnake was like methadone after they broke up (of course with three members of Purple, some say they just changed their name) . But for those of us that remember that heavy metal was not always mired in death, whining grunge lyrics, Punk influences, or cases of hair spray, this is a good look at a great hard rock band. While it suffers from the concert film format, fans will not notice this, and hopfully enjoy what Whitesnake was before Coverdale got exposed to all the fumes from the hairspray and reformed the group as a big haired 80's band.

the best hard rock band from the late 70's/early 80's

Whitesnake never was methadone or any other sort of silly substitute for any previous incarnation of the Purple-saga. This video shows one of the best Whitesnake line-ups (far better from 1987's and so on), with one of the best rock soulful singers ever. Maybe they would need to enhance the package with more songs and more interesting stuff from this great era of the band. Please, Mr. Coverdale, bring the power on. Let the word know the amazing Whitesnake of the old line-up. We need hard blues rock and soul directly from the heart, just the way you know how to sing it, just the way this incredible musicians know how to play it.
