Many of us say we’d like to live life without regrets. But that’s a virtually impossible, even for the most carefree of people. So imagine how hard that is for those in the spotlight, with their every angry moment, flippant tweet or huge blowup watched by the world.
Today, social media has made it pretty impossible to make a mistake and then let it pass quietly out of the news cycle without fallout. Inevitably, a boycott, an apology, a show cancellation or a job termination is demanded and then multiplied many times on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and in the media.

Oh my gosh, you guys. The moment is finally here. It's the Ellen episode of Last Comic Standing, and they've been promoting this episode for what feels like 5 months.
When we last left our comics, they were recuperating from their first challenge -- sketch comedy. Only eight comedians are left: Rod Man, Rocky Laporte, Karlous Miller, Lachlan Patterson, Nikki Carr, DC Benny, Monroe Martin, and Joe Machi. The finalists will be mentored by Wanda Sykes this episode, and judged by Ellen --as well as Ellen's audience. And you know the audience over at The Ellen DeGeneres Show is just vicious.
The second challenge will be called "Who's Ready For The Big Time?" and Jb Smoove breaks the news that the comedians will be working with Ellen. "For those of you who don't know, a pre-interview is a process you have to go through with one of the producers of the show,...

Maker Studios has spent the past few weeks as the most popular girl in school. Like any true Mean Girl, Maker has been courted by all of the strongest boys in the room, been voted most popular ahead of its main rivals, and feuded publicly with one of its fellow queen bees. Now, Maker's place at the top is looking much more secure; the YouTube studio has officially secured a $36 million investment (which is just slightly less than the initial rumored figure of $40M) led by gigantic media conglomerate Time Warner. The big time investment is just one million more than the round Machinima received from Google and other investors earlier this year, proving those two independent networks are a cut above their other competitors. However, even with the large payday secured, Maker might not be done; after all, Yahoo also expressed interest in investing in the company. Another big...

The Carrie Diaries is coming! AnnaSophia Robb and the gang will be premiering on January 14, and we are dying to see the new pseudo-prequel to Sex And The City. The Carrie Diaries trailer we’ve seen so far has given us Manhattan, hunky boys and Carrie’s high school buddy Maggie describing her first time thusly: “It was like putting a hot dog in a keyhole.” How flawless is that? Seriously, that could be in an actual line from a original Satc ep.
While it seems like the Carrie Diaries keeps a lot of elements of Satc, certain things have changed. For example, Carrie’s father will be appearing on the show, while die-hard Satc fans will remember that Mr. Bradshaw ducked out on Carrie and her mom when our protagonist was five. Frankly, we like the idea of Carrie having to tangle with her dad and mom for independence,...

San Diego -- The big time-travel paradox of the sci-fi thriller "Looper" is whether Joseph Gordon-Levitt is playing a young Bruce Willis or whether Bruce Willis is playing an old Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Gordon-Levitt, co-star Emily Blunt and writer-director Rian Johnson gave the Comic-Con fan convention Friday a sneak peek at footage from "Looper," which centers on a hit man who's supposed to kill his future self.
To play the young assassin, Gordon-Levitt, 31, spent three hours in makeup every day to have a prosthetic nose and other cosmetic tweaks applied to make him look more like the 57-year-old Willis.
But much of the transformation comes from Gordon-Levitt's mimicking skills. He says he watched Willis' movies over and over and listened to the actor's dialogue again and again on an iPod.
Much of what he aimed for, however, was capturing the cool essence of Willis, Gordon-Levitt said.

Anheuser-Busch InBev is hoping to give a boost to their flagging Budweiser brand, whose sales have slumped for twenty-two consecutive years, by emulating the old advertiser-produced shows of the '40s and '50s (the original "soap operas" produced by soap companies) with a new reality TV show called Bud United Presents: The Big Time, which will air Saturday afternoons for seven weeks on ABC, beginning January 21. The show will feature amateur contestants, chosen from thousands of online applicants, competing in various sporting events, and other fields such as music and cooking, with winners receiving one-of-a-kind prizes, like getting to perform at a Las Vegas concert featuring Lady Gaga and Sting. Bud Light still dominates the beer market, accounting for almost a fifth of sales, while Budweiser's market share dropped to 8.7% last year (continuing to fall in 2011), just ahead of Coors Light. (Consumer Reports revealed on Thursday that [...]...

Bieber plays makeshift hoops and jokes around with his childhood friends. You got off lucky Justin – most moms would be pissed about knocking off that Fox leg.
Justin strolls down Ontario streets and listens to another young musician perform on the same steps he did so many years ago. Keep it up little violinist, maybe you’ll hit The Big Time like Bieber soon.
Justin hits up the radio station circuit, as he sees his fans exponentially grow. Are you sure there’s enough room for 200 people here?

Michael Bay's latest work is arguably better than his last two films combined. The big time director, currently in post-production [1] on Transformers: Dark of the Moon, took some time off to go back to his roots and direct a brand new Victoria's Secret commercial for the 2010 holiday season. The 90 second spot asks the question, "What's your fantasy?" My answer is several scantily clad, amazingly gorgeous women, in slow motion, with four billion edits and sweeping camera moves. And that's exactly what I got. This commercial is so trademark Bay, it's almost laughable. If it wasn't so beautiful. Check it out after the break. Thanks to Vulture [2] for the heads up. The models in the spot, which only aired during the recent Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on Tuesday, are Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Chanel Iman, Erin Heatherton, Katsia Zingarevich, Lily Aldridge and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley - who is in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

There are really three types of comics; The big time, "celebrity" rock star types (see Dane Cook), whose stand-up events are more like concerts. The lifetime comics who have always done stand-up and just never quite been given enough recognition to make the jump to TV or movies, and the up-and-coming comedians who are desperately looking for that big break. Bill Burr is one of those stand-up lifers.
The Camden native has appeared in a number of television shows and films. Just enough to earn "oh yea that guy!" status when you see him on stage. Still, the many years of roaming comedy clubs and doing sets gives Burr an easy rhythm on stage that allows the audience to immediately settle in.
In Let it Go, Burr gets his shot at bringing the funny in his own stand-up special. Unlike some other comics who use these opportunities to pull out some crazy gimmick,...

Host Alton Brown believes that "The Next Iron Chef 3," which premieres Sunday, Oct. 3 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt, is definitely more difficult than the previous two seasons. Hear that, Chefs Michael Symon and Jose Garces? You had it easy.
"We know how to make them really hard by now," Brown tells Zap2it. "It's forcing the chefs to either cook in places that really are challenges for restaurant chefs, to cook with ingredients that they've probably not worked with before and to do a lot of reinterpretation of who they are as a cook. It forces them to do a lot of looking inward.
"So the tasks are more difficult. Some of them are just from a workload and time standpoint, absolutely grueling. I shudder to recall a few of them. I wouldn't have made it. I may have made it to the third round."

"Mad Men" may be named for the guys, but the show's women rule the roost. Take Christina Hendricks' savvy office manager Joan Harris (nee Holloway), a glamour girl who choreographs her every move with the precision of a five-star general drawing up battle plans. Or how about January Jones' frustrated housewife Betty Draper, whose icy veneer masks a woman constantly on the verge of coming undone? And of course, there's up-and-comer Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss), a gifted copywriter finding her voice during the upheaval of the series' 1960s-era setting. The characters are beautifully written, but these women's masterful and nuanced performances make them come to life; all three were recently recognized with Emmy nominations. As the critically acclaimed AMC series returns for its fourth season, the talented trio chatted with Back Stage about auditioning, typecasting, and being women in a world of "Men."Back Stage: What was...

I found myself feeling bad for the kids who play Bella's friends in Twilight given that they were generally ignored in favor of a smoking hot vampire. But it turns out one of them wasn't just sitting around and waiting for Bella to hang out with her again. Anna Kendrick, who plays Jessica in this weekend's movie, has landed the lead role in Up in the Air, opposite none other than George Clooney. The Hollywood Reporter says Kendrick beat out big-name actresses like Ellen Page and Emily Blunt for the role, playing a woman who "finds herself pulled into the orbit of a "career transition counselor" (i.e. professional firer) careening through the airless world of business travel." Clooney, I presume, is the professional firer. Jason Reitman is directing, which makes it even more impressive that Kendrick beat out Page for the part. If she's really good in this, we'll...
